November 8th will be a very important day

gif from the new trailer!!

Hey there, fellow devlog readers! Long time no see. Autumn is kicking in, the days are rainy, and you feel like you need some vivid colors in your life? Well, here's a good news for you: Mask Around will be available on November 8th on Steam!!! The mobile version will came later that month. Isn't that exciting? I think it is. Yay!

On participating in a virtual festival

They gave us this template to communicate on the Next Fest so I'm putting it to good use

Can't wait to play? Well, you're in luck: Mask Around is participating in Steam Next Fest starting... today! Try out the freshly updated demo, and take a look at the awesome new trailer for the game, all that from the Steam page. Wishlists, page visits and demo downloads are especially appreciated during this time, because they boost the game's visibility on the platform. I'm currently sitting on ~300 wishlists, which is cool but not a lot at all by indie games standards. So any click helps!

On participating in a real life festival

Me at the Play Sorbonne Festival. Thankfully, I've gotten less socially anxious over the years!

A few weeks ago I was also a participant of the Play Sorbonne Festival, an all-things-gaming student-made festival here in Paris. I had a booth where people could play the game and chat with us. I was surprised to receive so many good feedback from so many different kind of people! Some players even came back later in the day just for a chance to play again. I also had some addicted children that didn't want to let go the controller (which was really weird for me to experience! ... should kids play this  game?).  I received the help of friend and family, and my sister even made a creepy life-sized mask as a decoration. I want to thank again to everyone that helped me or came by for support. This definitely boosted my motivation to clear the last remaining issues and actually release the game!

Putting the last pieces together

One of my first drafts for the supernova-themed final boss! Will you manage to beat it?

Since my last devlog, I've been adding the remaining pieces to Mask Around, namely:

  • Made an epic final boss
  • Added more level patterns
  • Added the remaining masks and backpacks

I've finally reached all of my objectives content-wise, with a whopping 24 masks (with unique powers) and 24 backpacks (purely cosmetic) hidden in the game. I'm also quite proud of the final battle, themed around the sun becoming a supernova... I can't wait to see it in the players' hands!

As usual, if you want to help me, you can wishlist Mask Around on Steam, subscribe to my newsletter or follow me on the social media of your choosing! See you in a few weeks... for release day!
